Thank you for attending the Cascadia Convergence 2007!!
October 26 and 27, 2007

Cascadia Convergence 2007 was an event that began a 5 year initiative to catalyze collaboration aimed at achieving sustainability across our bioregion, Cascadia.

Dr. David Suzuki, world renown sustainability guru, kicked off this 2-day event to take stock of sustainability progress in the Pacific Northwest. A highly regarded author, mentor and TV personality, his scientific knowledge and ability to communicate with diverse audiences has earned him international acclaim.

Dr. Suzuki spoke Friday night, October 26 at Town Hall on Sustainability within a Generation , a document produced by the Suzuki Foundation in Canada. Adopting the policy recommendations outlined in Sustainability within a Generation could safeguard our natural legacy for future generations and improve our quality of life. Learn more here ...

October 27 offered a full day of discussions at the Seattle Center Pavilion and NW Rooms to reflect upon the Suzuki Foundation’s framework as it applies to our region. Particular attention will be given to this year’s theme of 'Climate Action and Citizen Engagement.' Many attended this community-wide gathering of concerned citizens, businesses, community groups, non-profits and civic leaders to learn about current progress toward sustainability and to make plans for concerted action to accelerate progress over a 5-year timeframe.

Cascadia Convergence 2007 has a theme of ‘Climate Action and Citizen Engagement' in honor of Mayor Greg Nickels' Climate Action Summit and is one of many other sustainability-related events during “Green October” These events combine to make a local, regional and national statement of high visibility - potentially a watershed moment - about the urgency of climate change and sustainability.
