Survey to be filled out by organizations that wish to deliver sustainabillity related programs in schools

This is a place where you can give us information about how your organization and a school have partnered in the past. The Passport Initiative can help you do it again, and better.

Survey

• Sustainable Cascadia is engaged in the Passport Initiative because we feel that it is important for children to understand the importance of sustainable communities in order to be good citizens, to help preserve the quality of life in our region, and to feel personal responsibility for their communities
• The basic idea is to better link community partners, like your organization, with schools and teachers to deliver educational programs related to sustainability, using a simple “passport” document to get the kids engaged, allow for a sense of personal accomplishment, and allow teachers and schools to track educational accomplishments
• In talking to teachers and community partners we have identified a need to make it easier for both groups to link up and coordinate, to reduce the time and energy needed to schedule programs and to provide more choices for teachers
• We believe that place-based education that is consistent with the state standards for environmental education is a very effective way to develop sustainable communities
• The vision is to have a web-based tool for teachers and schools and for community partners to better link with each other, and
      * for teachers to be able to share their programs with each other and track
        their experiences,
      * for teachers to communicate their educational needs to community partners,
      * for community partners to better coordinate with schools and each other, and
      * for continuous improvement in coverage, content, and program quality though
the coordinated effort of the educational community
• In essence, we hope to lower the transaction costs of coordinating programs from community partners with teachers
• This fall we are planning a pilot program with one or two schools, and we would like to see if your organization is interested and may be able to participate
• To that end, we would like to ask you a few questions about the work of your organization that address what the teachers need to know
