Welcome to Sustainable Cascadia!
We are a group that exists to help fill in the holes; bridge the gap between communities in the Cascadia region; connect the puzzle pieces between how our human world relates on a variety of levels – socially, environmentally, and personally.
The world is changing drastically. There are so many different relationships it is hard to know where to begin. Instead of empowerment, we are often faced with overwhelming emotions – fear, confusion, and frustration just to name a few. Together, we can smash these walls simply by realizing how integrated our lives are with each other, and with our natural surrounding environment.
This blog will serve as a foundation for creating and reinforcing those connections. Periodically, we will write a few paragraphs on a pertinent topic to the Cascadian, and human, in all of us. Sometimes, it will be specific to our bioregion. Other times, we will take a broader approach, discussing something on a global level. We will open an opportunity to think and discuss many issues that are impacting us all.
We welcome your suggestions, thoughts and opinions. In short, we welcome you. We aim to create an inviting, safe place to discuss what means the most to YOU. Hopefully, through these discussions, we can empower many to take it to the next level.
Right now, the TV show Futurama is on in the background at my home. They are talking about the Pacific Northwest, and how Bigfoot will no longer exist if our natural environment is destroyed. All I can think about is that without our natural environment, we will not exist. Our children will not exist. Our grandkids and great-grandkids will not exist. We have the opportunity to change that. Together, we will.
